Everton land Argentine striker and Dutch midfielder
Everton have added Real Madrid’s Royston Drenthe and Argentine forward Denis Stracqualursi to their squad, with both joining on loan until the end of the season.
Drenthe’s versatility will be an asset to David Moyes, as the former Netherlands under-21 star can play at either left back or on the left wing.
The 24-year-old former Feyenoord man has found opportunities at the Santiago Bernabeu limited, and spent last season out on loan to Hercules, who were eventually relegated from La Liga.
Stracqualursi joins the Goodison Park outfit from Argentine Primera Division side Tigres, and was the top scorer in the league in 2010-11, with a hat-trick against Boca Juniors at La Bombonera shooting the 23-year-old into the limelight.
The South American has been linked with a move to Europe consistently over the last six months, with teams in Serie A and La Liga keeping tabs on the striker.
Stracqualursi’s arrival is offset by two frontmen leaving the club, as Yakubu and Jermaine Beckford have both moved on.
The Nigeria international has moved to Ewood Park to sign for Blackburn, whilst Beckford has dropped a division to join Sven Goran Eriksson’s Leicester City for a fee of around £4 million.
